‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Co-Writer on DCEU: ‘There’s a Lot of Spaghetti Being Thrown at the Wall’

Shots fired.

In a interview on Kevin Smith’s podcast, Fat Man on Batman, Avengers: Infinity War co-writer Christopher Markus heavily criticized the DCEU.

“I mean, I would look at what Marvel did out of necessity, in that they didn’t have their A-list characters,” Markus said. “They didn’t have Spider-Man. They didn’t have the X-Men. They went down a line and found a, I mean, he’s pretty fucking famous, he’s Iron Man, but he wasn’t there, and they made a really good movie out of it…I might put Batman and Superman and everybody else, I mean Wonder Woman is doing fine, aside for a second. Go through the vast world and go, ‘That guy’ or ‘That girl,’ and go, ‘Let’s just make a really good movie and not a universe and see what happens.’ There’s a lot of spaghetti being thrown at the wall.” Ouch.

  1. Dc is a better universe imo but the movies aren’t as good as they could be. Whoever is out there on the team doing the movies needs to step it up. But at the same time… mcu probably has a bigger budget and a lot more promo and hype because it’s Disney

  2. The DC movies are just fine. MCU phase 1 was mediocre, so I don’t know why they expect so much more from DC phase 1. Captain America was a good movie but definitely not worth a second look if you’ve seen it. Iron Man was cool but it’s not like the villain was that great. People are comparing DC to current Marvel Movies instead of phase 1 and it’s stupid too. MCU lucky people excuse their bullshit. Exactly wtf was the second half of Iron Man 3?? The complete mishandling of Mandarin?? Thor 1and 2 were good but definitely nothing compared to Civil War or Infinity War. The MCU directors just needs to stfu and make sure Infinity wars part 2 is dope, their comics are now atrocious, so it’s not like they’re killing every market as far as comics are concerned.

  3. So, Avengers 4 is already done, eh? Hmmm… Who wants to bet that there will be a leak of the film? 😉 😛 That's a looong time to have a completed project just sitting around. (Reshoots, etc. notwithstanding.) 😉

  4. It’s sad to say that the only decent DCEU movie is Man of Steel, and the only good DCEU movie is Wonder Woman. Whereas, even the MCU’s throwaways like Thor: The Dark World are at the very least decent.

  5. A lot of people forget that when DC was on top, Sony was putting out garbage after garbage. Wasn’t until X-Men First Class that we got a good movie, and the X-Men movies after that weren’t so good. Daredevil was shit, Elektra was shit, Ghost Rider was shit, Fantastic Four was shit, hell even the Spider-Man movies were shit.

  6. DC ran the yard in the 80's and Marvel couldn't get a hit… Now it's reversed. Big deal… It happens. Wonder Woman can hold them down. However, if Green Lantern fails… Stick a fork in DC, they're done. You can't go cosmic without Green Lantern. It's akin to Marvel going cosmic without Dr. Strange…

  7. I remember when Howard The Duck and The Punisher played by Dolf Lundren came out and did horrible. This was back in the 80s when the DCU has hit Batman movies. Marvel went through the phase that the DCU is going through now. And if they don't start from scratch it will implode upon itself.
