Albuquerque, NM – Albuquerque Police have identified the man arrested Thursday afternoon after shooting in the direction of officers in northeast Albuquerque. o officers were injured, APD says, but it took severa l hours for them to finally apprehend 23-year-old Charles Purvis after setting up a perimeter. Officials say it began when Purvis shoplifted items from the nearby Walmart. Purvis has a brief criminal history that includes charges of shoplifting, receiving or transferring stolen motor vehicles, and battery. APD also released lapel of officers pursuing Purvis on foot for close to a minute in the parking lot before he can be seen reaching for his gun and firing in the officer’s direction. SWAT and air support assisted officers in their search of the area.
