Bodycam Shows Officer Shooting at Suspect Through Windshield

“Assistant Sheriff Tim Kelly met with members of the media today to discuss additional details of the July 11, 2018 officer involved shooting that occurred during a vehicle pursuit and ended at Ogden Avenue and 18th Street. At approximately 7:24 a.m. patrol officers were dispatched to an attempted murder call in which the victim was shot multiple times. There were two suspects involved and they fled in a SUV described as an early 2000 Ford Expedition with big wheels. At approximately 9:30 a.m. officers observed the vehicle in the area of Constantine and Cooper. The suspect immediately sped away and officers began a pursuit. During a lengthy pursuit both suspects fired a total of 34 shots at officers striking multiple marked patrol vehicles. Officers returned fire a total of 32 times during the pursuit and at the point of termination on Ogden Avenue and 18th Street. The officers involved were Officer William Umana and Officer Paul Solomon. The suspects were identified as 23-year- old Fidel Miranda and 30-year-old Rene Nunez. Miranda was declared deceased by medical personnel on scene. Nunez was taken into custody and had sustained an apparent gunshot wound for which he received medical treatment.” – Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Report.
