DC Claps Back at Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Deadpool’ Shade by Reminding Him of ‘Green Lantern’

The final Deadpool 2 trailer included a jab at the DC Extended Universe movies.

“You’re no fucking hero. You’re just a clown, dressed up as a sex toy,” his foe Cable says. “So dark, you sure you’re not from the DC Universe?” Deadpool replies, poking fun at the DCEU’s generally dour tone.

Now, DC is firing back through the Twitter page for the upcoming film, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, by reminding Reynolds’ of his own DC past.

“Hey @VancityReynolds, caught your new @deadpoolmovie trailer. Never forget – before you became a @Marvel character, you were a part of the @DCComics universe,” read the tweet, referencing Reynolds’ role as Green Lantern in the 2011 film. It was also accompanied by a clever GIF of the other Green Lantern, John Stewart. “There was a Green Lantern movie…but we don’t talk about that,” he says. Ouch.

  1. Technically, Ryan was already deadpool considering xmen origins wolverine came out in 2009 then he was green lantern in 2011….. but thats none of my business 🐸☕️

  2. I LOVE Marvel and DC, they have weak points and strong points each, one is not so dark, the other is dark. But they speak about the very conflict beetwen good and evil, about light and darkness. And no matter how dark or not a universe is, heroes are still heroes and villains are still villains. Take a look at Spider-Man and Batman. Batman is "darker", but they both lost someone they loved and promised to do justice. ONE think of DC i don't approve is this stuff with the "Why you make fun of us Ryan Reynolds?" Here's why: 1) Deadpool is supposed to break the 4th wall. 2)It's true that DC is darker than Marvel. Why did DC take that reference so bad? 3) Did DC forget that Ryan Reynold played in Wolverine X-Men Origins before that Green Lantern movie? I still love both though. But DC needs to say sorry to Ryan Reynolds.

  3. So they t🤔🤔k an L from Ryan Reynolds, and then gave themselves another L.
🤔🤔🤔Then say he was DC before Marvel but he was in X Men Origins(2009)while Green Lantern came out in 2011. Then there's Blade. Which was long before X-Men Origins. So they gave themselves 2 L's. While taking one from Reynolds and most of the MCU cast. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

  4. How is that shade at him? DC wrote, produced & released that hunk of shit. Ryan Reynolds couldn't have saved that movie even if he was a real superhero.

  5. Deadpool: aRe YoU sUre yOu're NoT fRoM tHe DC UniVer-

DC: stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it (Joe Budden voice)
DC needa stop tryna ride that "friendly gay shit wave" it's actually pissing me off and straying away from its persona. Lmao, DC is about humanity and it's sadistic nature

Marvel is about human nature and heroism and relatability lmao tf DC (at least in my eyes) non of that gay shit smh

  6. How is this a jab or a clap back? They just said that he was Green Lantern movie, wich is true. Are they trying to make a joke? Because if so, they’re making fun of themselfs. DC = L

  7. Yeah but hes deadpool so you cant “clap back” at him for being the green lantern. The first deadpool movie is better than every dc movie combined (excluding nolans batman movies).
