James Charles is cancelled – I repeat: James Charles is cancelled, and just a word to the wise – don’t you dare come for Tati Westbrook because things will get ugly.
What’s up guys, Sussan Mourad here back here on Clevver News, and it’d been a while since we’ve gotten a dose of shade by way of lengthy YouTube video, but this weekend Tati Westbrook delivered. For those of you who are still trying to catch up and would rather have the Cliff Notes than watch her tirade, Tati basically built James’ career from the ground up, mentored him in the world of beauty, and James even revealed at one point that it was Tati who caused him to pick up his first makeup brush.
In the shocking 43-minute video Tati posted to her YouTube titled “BYE SISTER”,
Tati severed ties with James completely, while ripping him to shreds for things like collabing with her competitors, lying to his followers and basically manipulating people’s’ sexuality. Take a look:
Aside from being stabbed in the back multiple times, Tati also claimed that James tried to turn many straight men gay, and said that he would regularly boast about it. She added, “You are using your fame, power and money to play with people’s emotions. I don’t want to be friends with you. I don’t want to be associated with you.”
These accusations caused James’ follower count to drop like flies… like, millions of flies, and I mean “millions” in the most literal sense here, guys.
The YouTube-verse was eagerly awaiting a rebuttal video of some sort, and James eventually delivered with an 8-minute APOLOGY video… Also, might I point out that his video was 35 whole minutes less than Tati’s… that’s all.
He spoke about how Tati has been like a mother-figure to him since he got his start on YouTube, and apologized for everything he put her through.
His video, which currently has over 30 million views, was clearly not enough to save his follower count, and it probably doesn’t help that the general YouTube population weighed in backing Tati’s claims. Although James owned the fact that he knows there’s nothing he can do to save the friendship, he also added, “A lot of the time when I’ve had to address things in the past, I’ve acted out of impulse and I’ve gone off and tried to pull receipts or facts or screenshots and play the victim. I’m not doing that today, I’m not. That is all I have to say, I’m sorry.”
Taking the ‘L’ like a champ, I must admit. But I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the matter. Did you tune into Tati’s 43-minute tea spillage, and who’s side have you taken?
