Kendrick on Kanye’s Trump and Slavery Remarks: ‘He Has His Own Perspective’

Vanity Fair has been blessed with a Kendrick Lamar cover, complete with an expansive photo history piece and accompanying interview focused on his recent history-making Pulitzer honor.

Bagging a Pulitzer, Lamar explained, was something he never thought would happen. “[When I heard I got it], I thought, to be recognized in an academic world . . . whoa, this thing really can take me above and beyond,” he told writer Lisa Robinson. “It’s one of those things that should have happened with hip-hop a long time ago. It took a long time for people to embrace us—people outside of our community, our culture—to see this not just as vocal lyrics, but to see that this is really pain, this is really hurt, this is really true stories of our lives on wax.”

  1. TBH Kanye meant by slavery by a choice is that blacks chose not to out power the whites and go peacefully. With the population of slaves, they mightve bee. Able to out power the whites, it's a mistranslated sentence

  2. Honestly, I agree with Kanye’s thing. I don’t like Trump, but I agree with Kanye saying that we need to come together and not view all trump supporters as racist.

  3. Everyone that isn't getting airtime with Kanye is salty. I'm a big Budden fan but as soon as he speaks on Kanye , he sounds salty. Same thing with ebro, Rosenbitch and everyday struggles bozos. I find it hilarious. They're trying to stop a culture.

  4. hold on, so he accepts that kanye has a different perspective when it comes to politics but doesnt hold the same level of understanding when he invited that woman up into his stage fully knowing that she might (and she did) said that "one word she cannot say", wherein her perspective was that it was okay to say it because it was in the context of the song, not a racist remark?

  5. Change my mind , convince me on why trump is racist, sexist, homophobic and all the things liberals think and say that he is, if you give me concrete reasons, ill be objectic and agree with you, because i see a great campaign from Donald

  6. Modelo comercial of two white people telling mexico to have hope😂 im dead 💀 not ir falt what is going on on the country bit seriously so dum how bout donovan stend up for mexicans like kapernick kneeled for justice naw he aint going to fuck up his 💰 but will talk to us baut hope😂

  7. Kanye is right. Dont be monolithic or slave to other people's values and the current thought trend or to consumerism. Do your own values.

  8. Kendrick isn't trying "to get his white audience mad" he actually understands people can have their own opinions…And shouldnt get bombarded with hate if they think something differetnly
