Rockets Destroy Warriors, Boogie vs. Pelicans Drama, Celtics Gooning | Out of Bounds

On today’s episode of #OutofBounds, former NBA center Ryan Hollins joins Gilbert Arenas, Adam Caparell, and Pierce Simpson to talk the NBA playoffs, shoe deals, and players using Instagram to beef and negotiate with teams.

With the Rockets getting a big, series-tying 127-105 win over the Warriors in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals, the panel breaks down how Houston blew Golden State away. Plus, with PJ Tucker cooking for 22 points and 7 rebounds, Gil has to eat his critical, dismissive words about him, and Ryan stands up to Agent Zero on behalf of all role players. Also, Gil identifies what Houston does that it won’t get away with when the series shifts to Oakland.

In “Fair or Foul?” the panel weighs in on the NBA not disciplining J.R. Smith for shoving an airborne Al Horford in the back late in the fourth quarter of Tuesday night’s Game 2 between the Celtics and Cavs. Gil also explains why there is no consistency with refereeing and punishment in the NBA.

Looking forward to this weekend’s Game 3’s, the crew asks if the Cavs will beat the Celtics by “gooning the game up,” as coach Tyronn Lue says they must. Gil explains the difference between physical play and gooning — and what he’s looking for from the Celtics on the road — before Ryan shares his experience gooning with Lue. And with the WCF headed to the Bay, Gil breaks down how the Warriors change when home and away, as well as how Kevin Durant’s game is hurting his teammate Steph Curry.

The sneaker industry’s biggest brands reportedly consider 6’2” former Oklahoma guard Trae Young the most marketable player in the NBA draft class of 2018 and are looking to sign him. In “The Pull-Up,” OOB debates which sneaker company would be the best fit for Trae and if he actually is the most marketable player entering the league. Plus, 7-foot Ryan reveals how frustrating it is that even superstar big men don’t get huge shoe deals.

Finally, Ryan and Gil explain the meaning of free agent center DeMarcus Cousins unfollowing the Pelicans on Instagram. Is the reportedly happy relationship on the rocks? Who is in control of negotiations? And will Boogie still re-sign with New Orleans?

  1. Funny that Ryan calls Rondo one of his favourite teammates lol I remember Rondo throwing him a halfcourt alley-hoop and that nigga Ryan tried to dunk it but landed fucked and almost broke his back ahahah I recommend watching it shits funny af

  2. Sorry Cavs fans dumb ass Gil said he taking the Cavs so Boston is gonna win. He is such a dumb fuck "What? Of course I'm taking Cleveland". WHEN THEYRE DOWN 0-2?!?! Fucking idiot.

  3. Gilbert why don’t you get into the coaching or private workouts for up and coming guards?! You have so many ways to defend and offense to push and your experience is invaluable to future stars under your wings at a fee?! $$$ talks same information!

  4. Wow great debate! I agree with Gilbert. He makes a great point about point guard being not as the same as in the days…NBA looking for long tall shooters that have guard skills to facilitate offense. Mahalo, 808
