Sammy Sosa on Skin Bleaching: ‘I Do Whatever I Want’

Sammy Sosa’s appearance—his ever-lighter skin tone, to be exact—has confused people throughout the world for years. It was recently referenced in the Teddy Perkins episode of Atlanta Robbin’ Season, which should say everything you need to know about the tone with which people approach this somewhat delicate issue. Back in 2009, Sosa admitted on Univision to using a “bleaching cream” that “soften[s]” and “whitens” his skin tone. “I’m not a racist, I live my life happily,” he said at the time.

  1. Honestly to the people that saying he wants to be white… At the end of the day we all have choices that we can make to change our body that's like someone that exercises to lose weight in your body for example to all the tan / white people some of y'all use tanning oil to get more darker when y'all go on the Sun so what's the difference???

  2. I mean… People use tanning beds to get darker. I don’t say I agree with what he is doing, but he doesn’t harm anyone with it. It’s his choice & body. and if he wants to be whiter so be whiter. Who cares… and I don’t say it’s healthy , coz probably he is not , but till he doesn’t hurt anyone , I literally have zero problem with it, and people should mind their own business too , I think. The world has bigger problems than this.

  3. I’m sure that he crushed and disappointed many of his fans when he lightened his skin, when he could have continued to inspire so many.self hate is real! Sammy you’re still a black man you can not escape that😀
