Y'all forgot mention February 2002 were both Will Smith and Queen Latifah got Oscar nods for their films Ali and Chicago that's when hip-hop really got recognized in Hollywood.
Just imagine telling someone in 1989 that Will Smith, The Fresh Prince would be the lead action star in a hugely successful alien invasion film film just 7 years later and become the biggest movie star in the world for a good decade. They would think you were a nut.
